Overview of the program: The Grand Finale of each show season at Sorensen Park will be a Year End Awards Dinner where we will recognize and celebrate the year’s achievements and accomplishments of our competitors and friends.

Sorensen Park will host 3 types of horse shows each year. They are:

1) USEF Recognized Dressage shows AKA Traditional Dressage.

2) USEF Recognized Western Dressage shows which also include classes for Gaited Dressage.

3) Sorensen Park School Shows which include classes for Traditional Dressage, Western Dressage, and Gaited Dressage.

NOTE: Division groupings may be combined if there are less than three qualifiers for any award. Sorensen Park awards committee will decide the final Year End Awards grouping of award divisions, placings, and results and their decision will be considered to be final.

Rules and Information

Registration Information:  All registrations are for April 15 through October 31 of the current show year.               

  1. A competitor may show more than one horse. 
  2. A horse may be shown by up to two competitors.
  3. A lessee with a signed lease agreement is considered to be the horse’s owner for purposes of showing. Please send a copy of the lease agreement with your awards program registration.
  4. A completed registration form for each horse/rider pair and a fee of $25.00 for each division entered must be paid to be eligible to participate in the Sorensen Park Year End Awards Program.  If the horse/rider pair competes in more than one division, an additional fee of $25.00 for each division entered must be paid.
  5. Points are earned only after registration and financial requirements are met.  Scores earned before registration and payment of fees will not be counted. 

If adding an additional division or level later in the year Linda Sorensen must be notified in writing and fees paid.

Rules

  1. Owner and rider are responsible for reading and understanding the Year End Award rules.
  2. Riders are responsible for verifying their scores and notifying the Sorensen Park show secretary of any discrepancy within 1 hour after the posting of the last class of the day.
  3. A competitor may compete in two adjacent levels on the same horse. Scores may be earned from any test of the level for all levels.
  4. Championship classes do not count toward year-end awards.
  5. Awards are based on rider’s average score.

A horse and rider combination may win an award or championship at any given level more than once.

QUALIFICATIONS and SUBMISSION OF SCORES:

Each rider MUST fill out and submit an Awards Show Form for each competition.  Link for   Awards Show Form can be handed in at the end of each show or mailed to Sorensen Park Awards Committee, W 1700 Saint Peter’s Rd, East Troy, WI 53120.   Sorensen Park will not be responsible for mail that is lost or misdirected.

 

Level Awards For USEF RECOGNIZED DRESSAGE SHOWS:   Introductory-Grand Prix
Each horse and rider combination must have 3 scores from 3 different judges from 3 different shows. Scores for awards in the Recognized Dressage division may ONLY be earned at Sorensen Park USEF Recognized Dressage shows.
For USEF RECOGNIZED WESTERN DRESSAGE SHOWS:   Introductory - 3rd level
Each horse and rider combination must have 3 scores from 2 different judges from 2 different shows
Scores for awards in the Recognized Western Dressage division may ONLY be earned at Sorensen Park USEF Recognized Western Dressage shows.

 

Level Awards For Sorensen Park Schooling Shows:
     Traditional Dressage: Introductory – 2nd level Must have 3 scores from 3 different judges from 3 different shows.
Western Dressage:   Introductory -3rd level   Must have 3 scores from 3 different judges from 3 different shows. Gaited will be a separate division if entries warrant                                

Scores for awards in the School Show division may ONLY be earned at Sorensen Park School Shows.

 

In Hand Awards:  2 scores from 2 different judges from 2 different Sorensen Park shows must be submitted for each division entered.

  • In Hand High Point Horse of the Year
  • Amateur Handler (Scores must be earned in an amateur handler class)
  • High score fillies
  • High score colts / geldings
  • High score Mare
  • High score Stallion

 It is NOT necessary to have the same handler for each class in order to qualify for year-end awards. In Hand horses may win these awards more than once. 

 

Musical Freestyle Awards/Traditional Dressage:  2 scores from 2 different Sorensen Park shows and 2 different judges must be submitted.

  • Awards are based on rider's average score.
  • The freestyles performed must be at training level or above. 
  • Freestyle awards will be combined unless there are sufficient entries in a division to grant separate awards.

 

Musical Freestyle Awards/ Western Dressage:  2 scores from 2 different Sorensen Park shows and 2 different judges must be submitted. 

  • Awards are based on rider's average score.
  • The freestyles performed must be at Basic level or above. 
  • Freestyle awards will be combined unless there are sufficient entries in a division to grant separate awards.

 

Proud Pony Award:   3 scores from 2 different judges from 2 different Sorensen Park USEF Recognized Dressage shows.

  • This award is for ponies only.  A pony is defined as 14.2 hands and under.
  • A copy of the USEF pony card must be sent upon nomination as proof of height.

 

 Bright Beginnings Newcomers Award:  2 scores from 2 judges from 2 different Sorensen Park shows must be submitted.

  • This award is available to riders in their first year of showing.
  • It is open to all age groups.

SPECIAL AWARDS
 

There is no additional fee for special awards, but a nomination of horse/rider must be completed to be eligible.

 

Sorensen Park Superstar Award

The Sorensen Park 70% Superstar is an award for horse and rider teams who have demonstrated outstanding dressage skill by achieving a score of 70% of higher at a Sorensen Park show in the awards year.  Sorensen Park will award a certificate to each horse and rider team who achieve a score of 70% or higher. There is no fee for the Superstar Award so be sure to send us the results of those great rides!!

 

Trainer of the Year Award

               Trainers from all Sorensen Park shows are eligible for this award

  • A trainer may have only 1 student or up to 5 students whose scores will be averaged. 
  • Each student needs 3 scores from 3 different judges from 3 different shows.
  • A trainer will get 1 point for every student she has enrolled in the awards program whether or not that student’s scores are used for the Trainer’s student average.
  •  Riders must note their trainers name on the score submission form to be used for this award.

 

Most Improved Rider   2 scores from 2 different judges from 2 different Sorensen Park shows must be submitted.

  • This award is given to the rider who has made the most improvement during the show season. 
  • Submit your lowest score test and your highest score test. May NOT mix levels or dressage/freestyle tests. May enter two consecutive levels.
  • All levels and Musical Freestyle are allowed, but both scores/tests submitted must be from the same level.  Note:  Musical freestyle scores BOTH scores must be from Musical Freestyle tests. 
  • Tests must be earned in the same competition year and must be from the same horse and rider pair. Award is given to the horse and rider combination who have made the most improvement as shown by the greatest difference between their lowest and highest scores. Higher score must be earned AFTER the lowest score.

 

High Score of the Year Award   This award will be presented to horse and rider pair who achieve the highest single score of the show season.
